Markt Elfershausen

Market Elfershausen and its ruin Trimburg.

The Trimburg is the ruin of a medieval hilltop castle of the Lords of Trimberg east of the village of the same name, a district of Elfershausen. It is located idyllically and visible from afar about 60 meters above the Franconian Saale on the Pfaffenberg.

The local associations host the Trimburg between May 1 and October 31 on every Sunday and public holiday.

Directions for the approx. 40-minute walk are available at the reception.

In addition, the Association of Friends of the Trimburg organizes a number of extraordinary events every year, from medieval festivals to plays and concerts.

Bad Kissingen

The possibilities in the tradition-rich world spa are manifold. Take a walk in the spa park with the breathtaking rose garden, visit the Claushof wildlife park, take part in a historical guided tour of the town or take a ride on the "Dampferle", the "Kurbähnle" or the stagecoach to Bad Bocklet. A visit to the Bad Kissingen casino and the Kissalis Therme is also unforgettable.

Rhön

The Rhön - the land of open distances - a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1991 - enchants with its unique landscape: large forest areas, high moors, nature trails, rare plant and animal species and lonely plateaus with mighty elevations invite you to hike. From the Kreuzberg, the holy mountain of the Franconians, 928 meters high, you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the Hessian Rhön, Thuringian Forest and Spessart. A stop at the Kreuzberg monastery, which has been catering to pilgrims and hikers since 1620, is worthwhile. Right next door you will find the "Bruder Franz Haus", a meeting place with events, meditation rooms and the permanent exhibition "Francis of Assisi and God's Creation".

The highest elevation of the Rhön is the Wasserkuppe with 950 meters, where gliders and paragliders as well as model airplanes cavort. You will also find the German Gliding Museum with numerous exhibits from the pioneering days of German aviation, a summer toboggan run, climbing forest and, in winter, ski slopes.
